5 Easy Legit Ways to Make Money on Android and IOS

If there’s one thing we always have with us, it’s our smart phone. A study from Provision Living found out that Americans spend an average of 5.4 hours a day on their phone!

If we had a dime for every time we checked our phones during the day, we’d all be rich! You’ll probably never get paid to read or send texts, or check your social media feeds, but whether you’re on Android or IOS, there are REAL WAYS you can make money on your phone.

Since we always seem to be on our phones anyway, why not make some cash doing things we already do? No extra skills needed, no complicated setups, and no runaround.

Here are my recommendations on easy and legit apps I personally use. Get started today and put a little extra padding in your bank account.

1. Cash Back Shopping

Pouring through the newspapers and store inserts looking for coupons is so time-consuming. Not to mention, then you have to snip the coupons, try not to lose them when at the store, and stand and wait while they’re being scanned by the cashier. Downloading apps for every store you shop at and finding digital coupons isn’t much better. Well, no more! Ibotta to the rescue!

Ibotta gives you cash back on things you already buy, and at the stores you already shop at. With a large selection of over 500,000 brands, from major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and local supermarkets, chances are, wherever you shop, Ibotta’s got you covered.

You can earn cash back both in-store and online, and it even connects to your existing member rewards accounts, so you get double the benefit.

In just 3 weeks I tested Ibotta at my local supermarket, buying the same groceries I always bought. I spent about $150, and got $34.53 cash back! Not too shabby!

You also get a $20 welcome bonus for signing up and using the app. You can sign up with your existing Google or Facebook account, so it can’t be any easier. Don’t overpay when you shop. Sign up and start saving today!

Ever read the fine print in advertisements and stores, where they give you the lowest price guarantee? It goes something like this…If you find the same product advertised from a competitor for a lower price, you can receive a refund for the difference in the price you paid. It’s a pretty sweet deal, but good luck remembering all your purchases. And who has time to research all the retailers trying to find a lower price listed somewhere?

Still, I sure hate buying something only to see it advertised for less at a different store a week later. And for this reason, Paribus is a godsend. They keep a current database of stores and price listing, so you don’t have to chase after them yourself.

Paribus will scan your email inbox for receipts, and if it’s listed somewhere for a lower price than you paid, they’ll reach out to the retailer for you and get you that lowest price refund guarantee.

It’s free money you never would have found. Fabulous!

2. Sell Used Items

We all have things we don’t use anymore, sitting around and collecting dust. Or maybe it’s time to make some extra room in that closet by downsizing your wardrobe.

Selling items online is easy and is a great way to make some instant cash.

Poshmark is a leading clothing resale site with a large user base. You just simply snap a picture of your clothing item, set a price, and it’s listed for sale. Once it sells, Poshmark will email a prepaid shipping label. Put it in the mail and get your payment!

In a digital age, do you really need to keep those cd’s and dvd’s taking up space on your shelves? Decluttr can be the perfect app for you. Along with cd’s and dvd’s, you can also sell your old phones, tablets, books, games and other electronics. The app will even scan bar codes for you to make listing your items a breeze, and they’ll email a shipping label. Easy peasy!

If you have items too large to ship, or prefer to sell locally, the Craigslist app still has a booming community, and is probably your best option. Even better, there’s no commission or shipping fees!

3. Take Surveys and Do Micro Tasks

Watching tv, waiting in line, or just anytime you’re bored or have free time can all be great opportunities to make a little extra money by taking a few quick surveys or doing other simple tasks on your phone.

One of the best survey apps that pays quickly since you only need to earn $10 to cash out, is SurveyJunkie. Surveys are usually short, around 5 – 10 minutes, and generally pay up to $2. It may not sound like much, but if you did that every day, you could cash out every week. It sure adds up over time, and hey, it’s way better than not making anything, and you can still watch tv while doing it! You can read our full review on SurveyJunkie here: Get Cash for Your Opinion – Survey Junkie Review.

If you’re looking for a little more variety besides just surveys, SwagBucks is one of the top rated apps for micro tasks. There’s surveys, watching videos, playing games, and even surfing the web. Each completed task will give you points which you can then redeem for gift cards or cashing out to PayPal.

If you really can’t be bothered with surveys or tasks, what if I told you that you can make money just letting your phone idle? SlideJoy will display a news article or ad on your phone lock screen. When you pick up your phone to use it, just swipe the ad away and get points each time you unlock your phone! I’ve used it without any issues, and since the ad is only shown when your phone is locked and not in use, they’re not intrusive at all.

4. Investing

It’s no secret that investing in the stock market can be complicated, confusing and risky.

Lending Club takes a different approaching, but investing in people, in the form of “microloans.” Personal loans are the fastest growing consumer debt product, tripling over the last 10 years. Lending Club. By investing your money, you are essentially the bank, and you earn from the interest accrued on said loans.

Investors average between 3 – 8% return, but can earn as much as 25% on your investment. If you’re looking to get started in investments, or diversifying your portfolio, Lending Club is a great place to begin.

5. Budgeting

As the saying goes, a dollar saved is a dollar earned. Saving money is making money, because you’re paying yourself.

It can be near impossible to save money if you don’t know your budget. I can’t stress enough how important it is to know your income and expenses. Finding ways to save can have the biggest impact on your finances and daily life.

As Dave Ramsay says, when it comes to saving and making money, it’s 80% behavior and 20% head knowledge.

Thankfully, there are some great budget apps that take out all the time and paperwork from old school budgeting methods, by linking your accounts, notifying you of trends, and giving a snapshot to easily track your progress.

My favorite budget app that I use is Personal Capital. I always have real-time picture of my net worth at the top of the app, and a full view of my finances, including investments. Checking the app when I’m out shopping, or before I go shopping, let’s me know what I can spend, and prevents impulse buys and unnecessary purchases.

A new trend in budgeting apps is personality based, AI-driven apps like Cleo and Charlie. You can text any finance question, and get an answer back, usually with some humor. They also help you save additional money by looking for the best price on things you buy and your recurring monthly expenses. It’s like having a free personal finance adviser at your fingertips.
